Intensive Courses

Intensive driving lessons — pass faster

Want to get your licence quickly? Our flexible lesson packages can be scheduled closely together so you make rapid progress. At iDrive Auto, our DVSA-approved instructors design each intensive course around your current ability and your test date, covering Richmond, Twickenham, Kingston and the surrounding areas of South West London. Whether you have a deadline to work towards or simply want to build momentum without long gaps between lessons, an intensive course keeps your learning fresh from one session to the next.

What's included

Who are intensive courses for?

Intensive courses suit learners who already have some driving experience — whether from previous lessons or private practice — and want to convert that into a pass without long gaps between sessions. They're a popular choice for pupils working towards a fixed test date, those relocating or changing jobs soon, and anyone who finds that skills stay sharper when lessons come thick and fast rather than spread out over months. If you're starting from complete scratch, we'll usually recommend a foundation of standard lessons first, then move into an intensive block as your test approaches.

Pricing & packages

Intensive courses are built from the same straightforward pricing as our standard lessons — no hidden fees, just more lessons scheduled closer together.

Hourly lessons

  • 1 hour£50
  • 1.5 hours£70
  • 2 hours£90

Introductory packages

  • Basic — 5 sessions£450 total
  • Intermediate — 10 sessions£880 total
  • Premium — 15 sessions£1,200 total

Our Premium package (15 sessions) is the most popular starting point for an intensive course, but we'll always tailor the number of sessions to your ability and your target test date rather than a fixed formula.

How long does an intensive course take?

Most intensive courses run over 1–2 weeks, with lessons booked back-to-back or on consecutive days to build momentum quickly. As with standard lessons, most pupils in South West London need somewhere in the region of 40–50 hours of tuition in total to reach test standard — an intensive course simply compresses those hours into a shorter timeframe rather than reducing the number needed. Your instructor will assess your ability at the start and agree a realistic course length and test date with you.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can I pass with an intensive course?

Many pupils who already have some driving experience or private practice pass within 1–2 weeks of intensive lessons. If you're starting from scratch, we'll usually recommend a block of standard lessons first, followed by an intensive top-up in the run-up to your test.

Do I need any experience before starting an intensive course?

Not necessarily, but intensive courses work best for learners who already have some lessons or private practice under their belt. Your instructor will assess your ability at the start and recommend the right number of hours before booking.

Can I book my test alongside an intensive course?

Yes — many pupils book their practical test for shortly after their intensive course finishes, so the skills you've built stay fresh. Just be aware that test slots can book up weeks in advance, so it's worth checking availability early.

Do I need a provisional licence before booking?

Yes — you'll need your provisional driving licence before your first lesson. You can apply for one on the DVSA website, and it usually arrives within about a week.
